LO: To identify how to keep safe when crossing the road

Starter

Discuss the rules of road safety. How did Moe cross the road safely? What would happen if we were not being safe?

Activity

Complete the road safety poster from last week, teaching others about road safety. Share with an adult or sibling.

Sensory play Ideas:

Use a road play mat in a tray or on the floor (or make your own roads using masking tape) with a selection of toy cars and people. In groups discuss safe areas for the people to cross the road safely

Art

Starter

Share images and slideshow on buildings. Discuss the architect and various examples of his architecture.

Activity

  1. Use bright poster paint or watercolour to add colour to different building templates. (get pupils to complete a few pages worth of buildings for next weeks activity)
  2. Tape and seal boxes using masking tape (encourage pupils to try to pinch and tare the masking tape or use scissors for those who require them) Add further details to boxes such as roof or 

If possible use papier-mâché to strengthen the boxes (torn newspaper with water/PVA)

  1. Leave to dry somewhere safe ready for next week

LO: To identify different materials and practice sorting litter for recycling

Activity

Collect some rubbish such as plastic bottles, cardboard boxes etc. Then sort the rubbish according to what it is made of using the Widget symbol sheet. Discuss what rubbishe can be recycled.

Take a photo of your sorted rubbish.

Explore – Explore the different items of rubbish. Look/touch/hold the different items. Discuss the materials and with support group items together that are made from the same material.

LO: To identify different coins and their value

Activity

Explore different coins and discuss their value

Easy/Medium –  Complete the Coin Recognition and Coin Detective worksheets

Medium -  Matching 1p

Hard – Complete the Counting Money Jar worksheets

Explore –  Create some large cut out coins. Using some plastic or real coins, sort the coins into piles of the same. (start off with 2 different coloured/shaped coins such as a 1p and a 10p) Pile next to or on top of the large cut out coin. Take a photograph of your work

Sensory play Ideas:

Hide coins within a sensory tray or sand / dried pasta / cooked rice or spaghetti /non toxic shaving foam. Ask pupils to find the different coins.

Explore  – count up to 5-10 objects (make caterpillars out of pipecleaners or straws) and place them on the caterpillar. Count together and repeat.

LO: To make a piggy bank out of a plastic bottle

Starter :

Activity

Discuss the importance of safety before beginning working on this project. Discuss the way of joining different materials (Sellotape, PVA glue, hot glue gun). Remind children that only adults are allowed to use glue guns. Adults will also make an initial hole in their plastic bottles.

Pupils will use picture and symbol instruction when working on this project.
