This week we are learning about personal hygiene. Share the lesson presentation Keeping Clean. Work through the slides discussing why we should keep clean and what can happen if we do not. The complete the Keeping Clean activity sheet.

Starter

We are practising our weighing skills. Talk about the units of measurement used for the recipe and discuss how they appear on the scales. Discuss why it is important to be hygienic when cooking and how to take special care when using knives for cutting. Work together following the recipe and measuring out the ingredients.

Starter

Share the PowerPoint Going to the Shops. Talk about what you do when you go to the shops and talk about coins that you use to pay for goods.  Practise making simple amounts with coins. Then complete the activities.

Match British coins and notes to the mat. Can you name all the coins and notes? – Lower ability

LO: To be able to a model of the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz

 

 

 

Starter

We are going to use junk modelling to make the tin man from The Wizard of Oz. You will need junk such as boxes, silver foil, cartons and tin cans. Make sure there are not any sharp edges.

 

Activities

Look at the pictures of the Tin Man. Use these as ideas for creating your own tin man. What shaped junk will you need for each part of his body? Think carefully about how you are going to hold the different shapes together. Have fun!
