Topic: Beast Creator – Frankenstein

The blue online links can be accessed by clicking on the subject in the timetable.

Monday 11th:

English; Watch the opening scene of Frankenstein.  How is the scene set?  What feelings does the ice and the ship give you? Using the grid, retell/storyboard the story.

Science; What is a healthy body weight? This week we are thinking about what is needed to keep a healthy body weight and how the different nutrients impact our bodies – both positively and negatively.

Life Skills; Planning a picnic task. Use the internet to help you plan and budget for a picnic with a friend.

Extension tasks: Write a diary of your activities.

Tuesday:

PE; Practise your throwing skills. You could roll up a piece of paper and see how far away from a box you can be and still get it in. Try different small balls if you have them. Is it easier or harder with a lighter ball?

Food Tech; Have a go at making some easy cupcakes. You will need to use maths skills to measure and time the baking and then your creative skills to decorate them after. Yum Yum!

Topic; Thinking about strange creatures, have a look at some of Ricky Gervais’ Flanimals and see if you could design your own Flanimal creature. What special features would it have? Give reasons for your choices.

Extension tasks: Write a diary of your activities.

Wednesday:

English; Read the extract from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Can you describe the monster that has been created using exciting descriptive language?

Maths; This week we are focusing on multiplication and division. Work through the Powerpoint and questions remembering to challenge yourself as much as possible. Times tables knowledge is really important so keep practising all your times tables but focusing on the 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, and 10s.

Topic; Continue to think about your Flanimal. Could you try and make it out of junk modelling you have around the house?

Extension tasks: Write a diary of your activities.

Thursday:

Maths; Moving forward from yesterday, use your times table knowledge to help you find the answer to division calculations.

Science; Continue thinking about a healthy body and what is needed to achieve this.

PE; If possible, go out for a walk in your local area. Remember to keep your distance from others around you and use your Road Safety knowledge wisely if you need to cross any roads.

Extension tasks: Write a diary of your activities.

Friday:

English; Practise the spellings and then see if you can write each of them in a sentence to show your understanding.

Horticulture; Look around your home or garden. What kind of plants can you see? Are they leafy plants or do they have flowers? Complete the diagram of the parts of a plant.

Look at the Powerpoint and then label the plant. There is also a game to play too!

PHSE; Look at the PowerPoint and discuss how the different people appear and how their identity is not always reflected by their appearance. Can you name other celebrities who show that identity and appearance can be either positive or negative depending on the media?

Extension tasks: Write a diary of your activities.
