Chinese New Year Celebrations

On Friday 27th January the Primary Department celebrated the Chinese New Year in a whole day Curriculum event. The pupils were taught about the traditions and celebrations of the Chinese New Year through a range of different and exciting activities and tasks.

In Cedar, Ash and Rowan classes activities included making a large Chinese Dragon, learning a dragon dance, making rooster shakers and rocking roosters. In Beech, Oak and Hazel classes the pupils enjoyed firework painting, making hand-held dragon puppets and dragons that blew fire! In Willow, Sycamore and Chestnut classes the pupils learnt songs, performed dances, made lanterns and cooked Chinese fortune cookies and noodles. At the end of the day the celebrations culminated in the Primary Department Assembly and Reception pupils from Kings Farm showing and sharing the exciting and multi-sensory experiences from the very successful day.
